Holman Automotive Group is one of the larger automotive retailers in the country serving Southern Florida, Southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia-Delaware Valley since 1924. It currently offers more than a dozen different automobile brands. Their Audi facility in Miami, Florida is home to one of their many luxury brands and as such it was important that they present their facility in a fitting manner. After the impressive showroom, another area that customers see after purchasing their car is the Service area. A clean appearance demonstrates Holman’s commitment to providing a positive experience for their customers.
The floor of their Service department was bare concrete and, over the years, it had seen its share of stains including oil, grease, brake fluids, coolants, transmission fluid and other blemishes typical to an automotive service center. The goal was to improve the appearance and the durability of the floor, while keeping it as low maintenance as possible. With all the contaminants in the present concrete, it was also important the new system would bond well.

Given these challenges, a Hybri-Flex® EB system was selected for its superior bonding and attractive appearance. Hybri-Flex is Dur-A-Flex’s hybrid series of high performance flooring systems. Where most resinous flooring systems consist of epoxy, urethane or MMA resins, Hybri-Flex supersedes these with a combination of two or more resins, harnessing their key attributes to provide an all inclusive flooring solution. The Hybri-Flex EB system installed at Holman utilizes a cementitious urethane base coat combined with epoxy topcoats to provide a moisture tolerant, durable and low-maintenance floor. The EB system also features a quartz broadcast for an attractive appearance and non-skid surface.
Another significant trait of the Hybri-Flex system is that it can tolerate up to 12 lbs. of moisture vapor pressure, triple that of many traditional flooring options. This often eliminates the need for the time-consuming and costly installation of a separate moisture mitigation system. Installing at a nominal thickness, the Hybri-Flex EB system can handle almost anything that hits an automotive service shop’s floor.
